DEAR HELOISE: When organizing my clothes for a long trip, I add an extra expanding shower rod inside the tub enclosure in my guest bathroom to create an additional hidden closet.
Well in advance of the actual packing, I use this extra closet to hang the clothes I'm thinking about taking. It is easy to see everything, then eliminate unnecessary items and coordinate outfits without having piles of clothes folded and stacked around the house.
