Guo Guangchan, director of the physics department of the ChineseUniversity of Science and Technology, no longer needs to ransack thedepartment's library for reference material, as his computer hasbeenhooked to the Internet through the campus computer center.
"I am delighted with this," he said.
The university's network center was hooked to the Internetthroughthe State Education Commission earlier last month. The servicesinclude E-mail, long-distance records, file transmittance, networkmanagement and agreements transfer. The users can contain the latestinformation from around the world and send their latest achievementsoverseas within no more than a dozen minutes.At present, the university's computer network center has some 400computers and work stations, and 978 users.
